Novel Creation Process: Launch Phase
By Cody Leet
Here we go. Let's maximize visibility.
▢ Launch Day
|
There is a bunch to do today. It is suggested you get up at 3am and begin, so everything is actually in place when everyone else gets up.
Here are the steps:
|
▢ Get the word out |
Notify book directories that your book is available:
|
▢ Advertising |
Remember that post you put on FaceBook? I'm sure your friends saw it, but they were already ARC readers. Put a Boost on the post for $10 a day for 10 days. This will massively increase your exposure to the general public. You can even tailor it to an audience matching your genre.
|
▢ Book Reviewers |
Need reviews? The Indie Book Reviewers List provides a database of people who, for a small fee, will read your book and write an honest review. This is not the same thing as paying for fake reviews, these are real and honest reviews, and could be good or bad. Many reviewers specialize in certain types of genres, so take care to filter down to people that read your style of work.

▢ Bookbub |
As soon as you have 15 five star reviews on Amazon, contact BookBub and ask them to consider your book for a promo announcement. BookBub is the largest direct discount book mailing list and they exist to announce discounted books. The catch is, they need to select you.
In order to really be considered, you will want to have at least 15 five star reviews. So after you hit 15 start, contact them immediately to consider your book. This is not required but strongly preferred for the Amazon 99 Cent Promo step below. |
▢ Amazon 99 Cent Promo |
Amazon allows you to do a special promotion called a Countdown Deal which allows to yo give a reduced price the creeps up to the normal price. The catch is you cannot do this until your book has been at a consistent price for 30 days. So on Day 30 initiate the deal, and bring your book to 99 cents.
Before you do, however, to get the most out of this it would be great if you could get a mention on BookBub. If BookBub didn't select you yet, try to get a status from them if you are being considered. If you are not, run the deal. If you are, hold off until you can do them both at the same time. I will add to this once I actually go through this process. |
